Age Policy
Last updated: October 6, 2026
This is the in-app age notice for Midas. It is not legal advice. Official text is the COPPA Rule and 16 CFR 312.2 (a child is an individual under 13). The Terms of Use and the Official Competition Rules require you to be 18 or older. Competition entry is void where prohibited.
Floor
Midas does not create writer or judge accounts for anyone the age screen identifies as under 18. We do not offer an under-13 mode or a parental-consent path in this product.
How the screen works
The FTC COPPA FAQ (section D.7) says a mixed-audience age screen should collect age in a neutral way, allow an accurate date, and should not default to an adult age. Midas asks for date of birth with no default adult date. Month-day-year and ISO both work. We compute age and discard the date. We do not store date of birth.
If the date is under 18, we refuse the account and do not collect name, email, or password.
Signing in with Google
Google sends your name and email before our screen can run. The account stays inactive until you pass the same age screen. If you are under 18, or you leave without finishing, we delete the account and the details Google sent.
Accepting a judge invite
Setting a password after an invite uses the same age screen before the account is finished.
Inviting someone
If you enter another person’s email, you must confirm they are 18 or older. Email is personal information under COPPA. See 16 CFR 312.2.
